Major Achievements

The company has achieved many successful milestones on course towards its mission and vision. Specifically, winning the UNFCCC award for the effectiveness of thecommunity-based flood early warning system is one of the standout achievements in working with ICIMOD todevelopand successfully implement it on the ground. Further,successfully developing the telemetry-based water level monitoring system within the CBFEWS frameworkwas a proud milestone. Other achievementsinclude:

  • Development of the Telemetry-basedwater level monitoring system in compliance with the framework developed by ICIMOD.
  • Implementation of UNDP-funded project on Community Based Flood Early Warning System (CBFEWS) in 8 districts of Malawi, Africa, partnership with ICIMOD and RCMRD.
  • Expanding the reach of CBFEWS with support of ICIMOD, Save the Children, Paani Project – USAID, and OXFAM Nepal.
  • Solar pumping projects in Kapilvastu, Rupandehi (Lumbini), and Chitwan District, collaboration with the Department of Irrigation and UNICA/ECCA forirrigation and drinking water supply.
  • Manufacture of Automatic Mains Failure (AMF) panels for automatic generator start and switch-over supply line in ICIMOD Knowledge Park at Godawari.
  • Drinking water projects in Bampuk, Chepang, Mardi, Chitwan and Fheda, Salyan, collaboration with the Department of Drinking Water, Chitwan.
  • Design and Installation of Off-grid power systems integrating solar photovoltaics, generators, and battery banks with NRC/NFE for Rupandehi districts, for district hospitals in Salyan, Bajhang, Doti and Dadheldhura supported by NSI
  • Solar Powered Water Pumping project in Punakha Dzong, Bhutan, collaboration with ICIMOD.

CBFEWS at Malawi

RCMRD, ICIMOD and SEE with support of goverment line agencies of Malawi have come together to save lives and livelihoods from flooding by installation of low cost community-based flood early warning system (CBFEWS) in eight selected dristicts in Malawi.

Flood Risk Warning System At Thuligadh And Aurahi Watershed

CBFEWS at Afghanistan

Community-based flood early warning systems (CBFEWS) are low-cost, community-run systems that are easy to run and repair; give speedy warnings when rivers rise; and are being piloted, improved, and operated through ICIMOD programmes across the Hindu Kush Himalaya.

A system monitoring the water depth of the Rapti River of Naumure, Dang districts of Western Nepal for analytical purposes in the establishment of the Naumure river hydropower plant.

CBFEWS at Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan

ICIMOD has worked with communties all over the HKH to safegaurd the lives of over 200,000 people through the use of Community based flood early warning system (CBFEWS). It was installed at Kharbachong, Ghanche district in Baltistan, Pakistan.

Telemetric Water Level Monitoring System at Seti River (SR-6), Bangga, Accham

With collaboration with ERMC, SEE has acomplished the installation of TWLMS at SR-6. The system installed is updated version of previous telemetric system replacing ultrasonic sensor with lidar sensor.

Solar Powered Water Pumping system installed in Punakha, Bhutan

Collaboration between ICIMOD through its Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) initiative, SEE, and local residents in the installation of SPWP system in Punakha Dzong. This system and concept is the first of its kind to be installed in Bhutan.

CBFEWS at Gagan River, Siraha

The Community Based Flood Early Warning System (CBFEWS) has been implemented along the Gagan River flowing through Nepal and into India. The Gagan River is a trans-boundary river between Nepal and India, originating in the Siwalik Hills and flowing through the Terai region of Nepal –the northern extension of the Indo-Gangetic plain—and into India through Bihar.
